steamer in 2012. The company now has 55,000
board feet of Walnut steaming capacity.
As a manufacturer, distributor, and exporter,
Kamps’ customer base extends throughout the
U.S., Canada and other regions internationally.
Kukowski noted that Kamps Hardwoods will
steam all of its Walnut prior to air drying and kiln
drying. Kamps Hardwoods currently produces
Rob Kukowski all grades of Walnut in thicknesses ranging from
4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4, 10/4 and 12/4. Special pulls for
proprietary grading, width sorting and premium
color sorts are offered. Custom steaming will also be available.
Walnut has become Kamps Hardwoods’ signature species and
makes up about 40 percent of the company’s total kiln-dried lumber
production. The company also recently joined the American Walnut
Manufacturers Association.

HENNIKER, NEW HAMPSHIRE–HHP Inc., a major manufacturer of
Northern hardwoods, pallets and chips, located here, has announced
the following management changes: Ross D’Elia announced his
retirement as the president effective Dec. 31, 2017. D’Elia has served
the company since 1989, when he partnered with Richard Carrier to
purchase HHP Inc. D’Elia has overseen the extensive growth and
implementation of technology into the manufacturing facility over the
last 28 years as it has evolved to be one of the most modern, efficient
hardwood sawmills in the Northeast.
Upon D’Elia’s retirement, Richard Carrier’s brother, Marco Carrier,
will succeed D’Elia as president of HHP. Also joining the partnership is
Richard Carrier’s nephew Joseph Carrier, who is currently working in
mill operations.
These appointments and changes are being implemented to facilitate
the operational succession of the privately held business, as well as
enhance HHP’s renewed focus on the success of its employees, market
growth and customer service.
HHP specializes in the production of 4/4 Northern Red Oak, Ash,
Hard and Soft Maple. The company operates kilns onsite and produces
approximately 12 million board feet annually. HHP also offers export
preparation and container loading services.

PEWAMO, MICHIGAN—Craig Devereaux,
vice president of Devereaux Sawmill Inc., headquartered
here, recently announced the installation
of three new kilns at the company’s facility.
Each of the three kilns were manufactured by
Kiln Dry Systems & Components Inc. and has
an individual board capacity of 60,000 board
feet, bringing Devereaux Sawmill’s total kiln
capacity to 1 million board feet.
Devereaux Sawmills is one of the largest
Craig Devereaux manufacturers and distributors of Northern hardwood
in the U.S., and exports into Canada, Europe,
Asia and the Middle East. Their customers
include buyers from industries in flooring, cabinets, furniture, millwork
and more. All the logs Devereaux harvests come from a 150-mile radius
around the mill.
