THE LIGHTEST SUPERCAR IN THE WORLD
It all started in 1978 when the small Dutch automaker
Donkervoort modified one of Colin Chapman’s iconic
Lotus Seven sports cars. Over the years, each
successive model became more powerful, with chassis
mods to match. Now, for 2023, the company unveils
their very first car entirely designed in-house - the F22.
Weighing just 750 kilos, the successor to the D8 - a car the
company built for more than a decade - has a power-to-weight
ratio of more than 600hp per tonne, which is better than the
original Bugatti Veyron. It comes from an Audi-sourced 2.5-litre
turbocharged five-cylinder, tuned to almost 500 horsepower
and connected to a five-speed gearbox sending power to the
rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential and a
switchable Bosch rev-matching system.
This, combined with an advanced active suspension system,
results in a car that can pull 2.15 lateral G’s through corners.
The little road missile catapults from zero to 100km/h in just
2.5 seconds, the 200km/h mark is reached in 7.5 seconds,
and the top speed is a touch more than 290km/h. An AP
Racing brake system with four-piston callipers bolted over
steel discs makes sure you get safely back to zero.
By the way: the initial planned run of 50 cars sold out
immediately, and all the Donkervoort clients were shown was
just a sketch! Since then, production has been upped to 75
