Campus Update: NIGERIA
LAUTECH host her first ICT WEEK.
The Nigeria Association of Computer
Science Students (NACOSS), Ladoke
Akintola University of Technology
(LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, had her first ever ICT
week in grand style. The theme of the four
days program was "ICT 4 NAIJA" meaning
Information and Communication Technology
for Nation building, Application development,
Innovative creation, Job reliability and
Accountable governance. NAIJA which stands
as an acronym for the above listed equally
means Nigeria in local dialect.
The event had other features such as
orientation for fresh students, inter-level
debate competition, software exhibition and
a public lecture on ICT awareness and need
for early start up. Presentation of awards and
unveiling of the association's magazine (VON-
NEUMANN) were high points of the formal
opening event. The program was attended
by top dignitaries of the institution and also
representatives from Omatek Computers and
Etisalat Nigeria whom were co-sponsors of the
event.
The institution is well known for numerous
achievement and recognition in areas of
mobile computing and Telemedicine and
has equally been the best state University in
Nigeria for three consecutive years since 2005.
