Young Alumni Trustee<br />

Carrie Colvin, an economics major from<br />

Birmingham, Ala., has been elected <strong>the</strong><br />

2005 Young Alumni Trustee. Colvin, who<br />

received her bachelor of arts degree from<br />

<strong>the</strong> College of Arts and Science in May,<br />

will serve a four-year term on <strong>the</strong><br />

Vanderbilt Board of Trust.<br />

As a student she represented Vanderbilt at <strong>the</strong> International<br />

Achievement Summit in Dublin, Ireland, where she<br />

and 100 o<strong>the</strong>r students from around <strong>the</strong> world participated<br />

in discussions with former President Bill Clinton, Mikhail<br />

Gorbachev, rock artist Bono and o<strong>the</strong>rs. She served as chairperson<br />

for Great Performances at Vanderbilt. As a senior<br />

class officer, she helped to raise money for <strong>the</strong> Senior Class<br />

Fund and to coordinate <strong>the</strong> Zero Year Reunion, Senior Class<br />

Pub Crawl, and <strong>the</strong> Almost Alumni Affair.<br />

Colvin has been a member of several academic honor<br />

societies, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma,<br />

Order of Omega, A<strong>the</strong>nians, Mortar Board and Omicron Delta<br />

Epsilon. She also was involved with <strong>the</strong> Reformed University<br />

Fellowship, Student Government Association, Dance<br />

Marathon, Habitat for Humanity, International Studies in<br />

London, and Momentum (a Vanderbilt dance program).
