The air fryer popped onto the
kitchen appliance scene in 2010. It
experienced its first big sales boom
in 2017; however, sales skyrocketed
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, about 36% of American
households had an air fryer, and
sales have increased by 76% over the
past two years compared
to the previous two. An air
fryer works by circulating
air and heat quickly in a
small space. This allows
food to retain its moisture,
and heats it evenly and
quickly. The promise of
crispy food without the oil
required for frying was a
game-changer for many
households, offering a
healthier alternative in
a time when most were
stuck inside making meals
at home. The convenience
and speed of an air fryer
are also top selling points
along with its versatility.
Whether it’s breakfast,
lunch, dinner, snacks or
We
deliver
dessert — the possibilities
are endless.
HOW TO ...
Get the Most From Your Air Fryer
Crispy Food Without the Grease!
by Lauren Gonsalves
Bacon-Wrapped
Jalapeños
Ingredients:
4 jalapeños
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar
cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
4 slices of bacon
Method:
Cut jalapeños lengthwise and
scrape out seeds with a spoon. In a
small bowl, combine cream cheese,
cheddar cheese, garlic powder and
onion powder. Spoon the mixture
into the peppers. Cut bacon slices in
half, and wrap each one around a
pepper half. Cook in air fryer at 400
F degrees for 10 minutes.
French Fries
Ingredients:
2 russet potatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt to taste
Method:
Preheat air fryer to 380 F degrees.
Cut potatoes lengthwise in 1/4-inch
thick fries, leaving skin on. Drizzle with
oil and salt. Add fries to basket in a
single layer. Work in batches, and
don’t overcrowd the basket — space
between the fries helps the air to circulate
and crisp the fries. Air fry for 12-
15 minutes, flipping fries in the basket
halfway through. May need more time
depending on amount of fries. Remove
when crisp and browning at the edges.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Method:
In a large bowl, cream together
butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add
eggs, vanilla extract, salt, baking
soda and half the flour. Mix until
combined. Mix on medium speed
while adding remaining half of flour
until dough is thick and creamy. Add
chocolate chips and stir until evenly
distributed throughout the dough.
Spoon dough into balls and place
in the air fryer on top of parchment
paper. Space out dough balls, leaving
about an inch between cookies.
Cook at 300 F degrees for 7-8
minutes. Let sit for 1-2 minutes, then
transfer to a wire rack for cooling. ª
