OS/2 Database Manager directory entries are necessary for: • Each local database managed through the DataHub/2 workstation • Each remote RDBMS to which this system will connect for the copy function. Most OS/2 Database Manager customers use the same database name for databases that are spread throughout a network. For each of the OS/2 Database Manager managed databases, two entries are required in the System Database directory: 1. One entry with the same value for the alias and the database name. This entry is added when the database is created. 2. One alias to the real database name. This alias must be unique in the DataHub/2 network. A nomenclature must be decided on in order to help you define those aliases.
