United Auctions - October Bull Sales<br />

The bull sale buzz was kicked off on<br />

Sunday 16 October with Duncan<br />

McGregor of the Corrie Herd taking on<br />

the task of judging the classes. Overall<br />

Champion came from the Glenericht<br />

stable where Glenericht Superb stole<br />

the show. Selling at 20,000gns he<br />

was sired by the Drysdale families<br />

successful stock bull, Caylers Oxford.<br />

Superb’s dam is Glenericht Jackie, a<br />

daughter of the 12,000gns Caylers<br />

Gladiator. Taking him home was Lucy<br />

Houston of the Gretnahouse herd.<br />

Reserve Overall Male Champion and<br />

Junior Champion was Balthayock<br />

Sebastian from Major Walter.<br />

Sebastian’s sire was the previous junior<br />

championship winner Balthayock<br />

Loyalist and he sold to his new home of<br />

J Boomaars in Surrey for 10,000gns.<br />

Taking the top price, at 28,000gns,<br />

was the Reserve Junior Champion<br />

– Falleninch Stormzy from A B Hornall<br />

of the Falleninch herd in Stirling. Sired<br />

by the well-known 70,000gns Barnsford<br />

Ferny, Stormzy was purchased under a<br />

4-way split between Allanfauld, Elgin,<br />

Goldies & Harestone.<br />

Second top prize of the day<br />

Rutherston Sonny<br />

Falleninch Stormzy<br />

Lochend Lightning and Thunder<br />

was the 26,000gns Senior<br />

Champion, Rutherston Sonny from<br />

Abbie Anderson of the Rutherston<br />

herd in Arbroath. Sonny is a Balmyle<br />

Oscar son out of Rutherston Jenna. He<br />

went home to the herds of Thrunton &<br />

Marwood.<br />

Top price female outwith the draft<br />

sales went to Harestone Royalgem<br />

at 5,500gns from R & N Barclay,<br />

Harestone. Royalgem is sired by<br />

Maerdy Newman and she sold too<br />

Kevin Watret of the Annanview herd,<br />

Dumfriesshire.<br />

Following on from the female sale<br />

was the dispersal of the well-known<br />

Lochend herd, run by Iain & Rhona<br />

Millar at Port of Monteith, Stirling.<br />

Their top price of the day was<br />

21,000gns for the sparky duo consisting<br />

of Lochend Lightning and her 5-monthold<br />

bull calf Lochend Thunder.<br />

Lightning was sired by Oldstone<br />

Egbert and her bull calf Thunder was<br />

sired by Swalesmoor Oscar. The final<br />

hammer came down to D Sawrij of the<br />

Swalesmoor Herd.<br />

Stars of the Future Calf Show<br />

Saturday 13 November saw the Stars<br />

shine bright at Stars of the Future<br />

in the charolais judging rings. An all<br />

ladies judging day at Stirling saw Louise<br />

Mcarthur, Cretlevane Farm take up the<br />

task of judging the charolais section.<br />

Entries were up on previous years<br />

in the charolais section which was<br />

most encouraging and a jam packed<br />

crowd added to a great atmosphere<br />

on the day. A very well done to all<br />

the exhibitors and we look forward to<br />

seeing your stars again next year !!<br />

Taking home the Overall Senior<br />

Champion was Tophill Shesabelter from<br />

Andrew Stott. Reserve Overall Senior<br />
