Qu’est-ce qui vous a inspiré à devenir styliste et
décoratrice d’intérieur?
J’ai commencé par le stylisme. Ma mère était couturière,
je l’ai aidée et j’ai pris goût à faire la couture. J’ai
toujours aimé m’habiller, j’ai toujours aimé la mode. J’ai
suivi cette voie pour devenir styliste. Au Festival Manja,
j’ai été quatre fois élue meilleur styliste femme, une fois
meilleur styliste homme, une fois meilleur styliste enfant
et j’ai gagné le grand prix du jury en 2005. Après je me
suis installée en Afrique, où j’ai ouvert un atelier. Après
un stage j’ai commencé à participer à des défilés. J’ai
ensuite appris à travailler sur de nouvelles matières
notamment le bazin, le wax et la broderie.
Je suis repartie à Paris et j'ai commencé la
décoration d’intérieur, d’abord avec ma maison, puis
les appartements de mes amis. Après mes premières
réalisations, mon entourage m’a encouragé à en faire
mon métier. J’ai ensuite commencé à travailler pour
d’autres personnes.
En 2010, j’ai été sollicitée par l’Oréal pour habiller
leurs mannequins lors d’un grand événement à leur
siège, rue Royale. En 2014, j’ai marqué mes 20 ans de
carrière à Madagascar par un défilé dans le hall de la
gare Soarano. Je suis revenue vivre à Madagascar en
2018 pour réaliser mes projets qui concilient décoration
et construction, à l’instar de l’ouverture du show-room
pour la décoration d’intérieur.
What inspired you to become a fashion designer and
interior decorator?
I started with design. My mother used to earn her
living sewing. I would help her and I developed a
taste for it. I’ve always loved clothes and fashion
so I decided to become a fashion designer. After
participating in the Manja Festival, I won four Best
Designer awards for women, one for men, one as best
children’s designer and, in 2005, the jury awarded
me the grand prix. Then I started working in Africa
and set up a workshop. After following a course and
contributing to several fashion shows. I learned to
work with new materials, notably bazin (African
brocade), wax (African wax print) and embroidery.
I went back to Paris, where I started interior
decoration, first with my own house then friends’ flats.
After my first creations in this field, I was encouraged to
set up as a professional decorator. I then started to work
for other people.
In 2010, I was contacted by l’Oréal for an import event
at their headquarters in the Rue Royale. I was asked
to dress their models. In 2014, I celebrated my 20 year
career in Madagascar by organising a fashion show
in the hall of Soarano station. I came back to live in
Madagascar in 2018 to carry out my projects, combining
fashion and construction, opening a showroom for
interior decoration.
