Samarkand State United Historical,
Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve was
founded in 1982. It includes 8 museums, 6
historical monuments, 2 shrines. Among them:
State Museum of the History of Culture of
Uzbekistan, the Mausoleum of Amir Temur,
the Mausoleum of Khoja Doniyor, the shrine of
Khazrati Dovud and other objects.
The main tasks of the museum-reserve
include: collection, study and preservation of
historical exhibits, preparation of expositions
for exhibitions, holding cultural and educational
events and conducting research work. The
museum staff has 269 people, including 56
scientists.
The museum’s funds contain over 211,000
exhibits, and about 800,000 people visit its
facilities annually. Every year about 20 various
exhibitions are organized in the halls of the
museum-reserve.
