Uzbekistan:
Biennale of Islamic
Art

From January 23 to April 23, 2023, the first
biennale of Islamic art was held in Jeddah (Saudi
Arabia). This event is the largest exhibition of
Islamic art in the world and attracts participants
from various countries.
At this exhibition, Uzbekistan presented
a unique exposition, which consisted of 17
museum ethnography and textiles items.
The participation of Uzbekistan in such a
grandiose event is an important milestone for
the cultural life of the country and it brought the
opportunity to demonstrate the richness and
diversity of the Islamic culture of Uzbekistan. It
also contributed to attracting the attention of the
international community to the cultural heritage of
Uzbekistan and the development of the tourism
industry.
Among the presented exhibits there are the
Kattalangar Quran of the 8th century, which is
of great and unique significance for the Islamic
world, ceramic jugs and bowls from Samarkand
and Afrasiab of the 10th-11th centuries, a copy
from the book of al-Sahih by the famous hadith
scholar al-Bukhari of the 17th century, men’s
robes and shoes from Bukhara and much more.
