It is known that the ruler of the Khiva Khanate Allakulikhan (1825-1842) was the first to wear the
chogirma headdress.
Until the end of the 20th century, the elders still wore chogirma, but then people stopped wearing
them. They were used only by members of theatrical and folklore ensembles.
To this day, the chogirma headdress exists, but tourists or visitors can only try it on to take a
beautiful photo, like a memory from Khorezm. Thanks to the interest of tourists, this craft continues
to exist, which is a national treasure and a symbol of the culture and traditions of Khorezm.
Today, men usually wear chogirma at festive events, as well as when performing the national
Khorezm Lyazgi dance
