Marine Centre plans
for James Watt
UK: Expansion plans for James Watt Marina on the River Clyde at Greenock
have been secured by the lease of around 6ha (14.8 acres) of additional land
and water. The marina will use the Great Harbour space to develop a marine
trade centre.
Marina Projects played a pivotal
role in obtaining the lease and, in
back-to-back arrangements with the
marina, has also signed up Serco as an
anchor tenant. Serco provides maritime
services for customers in the Defence
sector and operates nigh on 100
vessels from five sites around the UK,
working in British waters and around
the world. It will provide commercial
marine services, including towage and
salvage and passenger transfer, from
the Greenock site.
Marina Projects provided support in
negotiating the commercial terms with
Serco and also establishing a site-wide
masterplan and business case for the
wider marine trade centre proposals,
which took full account of the Serco
operations.
