Event Medical Association Launches The Event Medical Association (or Event Medical) is a new body representing medical providers working within the events industry. Launched at The Showman’s Show in October, the organisation is part of a shared vision to build stronger foundations within the industry and will answer the call to provide events with closer, more standardised, and coherent working practices. It also addresses incoming governance that will regulate the medical treatment of attendees at events. In its initial stages, Event Medical will sit on the NOEA Council and be part of its website, benefiting from the support resources available through the association. It has also been massively supported by seed funding from The Showman’s Show, ahead of its launch. NOEA will encourage dual membership of both associations amongst its many members concerned with medical support at events. Talking on the launch, one of the Event Medical Association’s co-founders, Chris Howes, said: “The government is looking at regulation that will examine the way medicine is provided at major events and, for us, it’s important that the industry has a voice in these discussions. The Event Medical Association allows us to do this.” Michelin Restaurant adds Garden Room Accommodation MOOR HALL, the two Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms in Lancashire, is launching seven cabins in spring 2024. The ‘garden rooms’ have been created by KOTO and will be situated in woodland around the restaurant’s gardens. Each unit has its own hot tub and has been designed to high eco standards. KOTO DESIGN KOTO DESIGN Leeds Castle adds Lakeside Lodges LEEDS CASTLE near Maidstone, Kent, has launched four new lakeside lodges with private direct entry to the castle, views over the Great Water from a private deck, and a stargazing rooflights above the beds. Waterside Lodges THE SOUTH Lodge hotel in Horsham will launch six lakeside lodges and two spa lodges in the estate’s 93 acre grounds in summer 2024. The spa lodges will feature a steam shower, outdoor whirlpool bath and infrared halotherapy sauna. Last year, owner Exclusive Collection became the first hotel group in the UK to achieve B Corp certification. As part of this ongoing commitment, a number of planting initiatives are being started across the group as part of its Land App / Protect Earth partnership. In March, 1,500 trees over four acres were planted at South Lodge to extend the ancient woodland over time. UK Greener Festival Award Finalists A GREENER FUTURE (AGF) will once again join forces with the UK Festival Awards to present The UK Greener Festival Award 2023. The top five nominees for the award are selected from those who have applied for the AGF certification and demonstrated outstanding success in reducing their environmental impacts and changing the industry for the better. The 2023 UK Greener Festival Award shortlist is: American Express Presents BST Hyde Park, Cambridge Folk Festival, Greenbelt, Green Gathering and Love Saves The Day. The festival that scored the highest in the AGF’s UK assessments during summer 2023 will be crowned the winner at The UK Festival Awards, held on 5 December at Manchester’s Escape to Freight Island. All AGF certified events from the UK and worldwide will be announced at the International AGF Awards during the Green Events & Innovations Conference, GEI 16, London, on 27 February 2024. LOVE SAVES THE DAY Guy Ritchie WildKitchen Partnership SURREY HOTEL Beaverbrook has announced a partnership with Guy Ritchie’s WildKitchen business allowing for year-round alfresco dining experiences. Seating 12-26 guests, the outdoor kitchen structure will be located in a meadow overlooking the site’s woodlands. The structure is the brain child of British film-maker Guy Ritchie and includes under table heating, a copper tabletop to keep plates heated and a fully retractable canvas roof and sides. Ritchie and his business partners spent seven years refining numerous prototypes for the WildKitchen, which also made a cameo in the film ‘The Gentlemen’. He commented: “You want the benefit of the indoors and the outdoors, so we made WildKitchen completely retractable. If you want to furl everything up you are completely outdoors within minutes, if the wind or rain starts to hit, you just drop the roof and you are completely protected from the elements.
