Making Roads While the Sun Shines<br />
With the start of the new year, weare back into<br />
resealing season! This means there will be an<br />
increase in chip sealing work being undertaken<br />
around the District.<br />
The resealing programme kicks offagain on<br />
11 <strong>January</strong> on King Street in Rangiora. Followed<br />
by Oxford Road and Whiterock Road inLoburn.<br />
Starting on Monday 22<strong>January</strong>, CORDE will be<br />
carrying out road works on Tram Road. This work<br />
includes overlaying approximately 1km of the<br />
existing road with anew granular overlay and chip<br />
sealing. The work will take approximately five to<br />
six weeks to complete —weather permitting.<br />

Across the District, Council maintains 980km<br />
of sealed roads. To achieve this, Council staff<br />
continually monitor all roads in the District<br />
and when need be they are scheduled<br />
for improvements.<br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> District Fire Update<br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> iscurrently in arestricted fire season<br />
and with hot temperatures set to continue, Fire<br />
and Emergency NZ are asking people tobecareful<br />
and check before lighting any fires.<br />
If you’re wanting tolight afire, first visit<br />
checkitsalright.nz to see what restrictions are<br />
in place and if you need apermit.<br />
Also, please take care with all sparks-hazardous<br />
activity such as mowing, grinding, welding, harrowing<br />
as these activities can start unintended fires.<br />
