Purpose of Committee:<br />

The Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee<br />

(DAIAC) aims to identify and address access and inclusion<br />

barriers for people with disability to ensure that everyone,<br />

regardless of age or ability, can access and participate in<br />

Community life. The Committee is responsible for reviewing and<br />

monitoring Council’s DAIP (Disability Access & Inclusion Plan).<br />

Key achievements and highlights:<br />

» Numerous upgrades and redevelopments with accessible<br />

features (including Steve Woodcock Sports Centre,<br />

Athelstone Recreation Reserve, Magill Village, Fourth<br />

Creek Trail, Hamilton Terrace Streetscape, Max Amber<br />

Sportsfield and Thorndon Park Playground.<br />

» Communication Access Symbol Accreditation was<br />

obtained for Council’s Customer Service<br />

» Council’s second Disability Trainee, Mr Josh Boswell,<br />

completed a Certificate 2 in Horticulture and the third<br />

traineeship commenced with Ms Cherie Brine undertaking<br />

a Certificate 3 in Business Administration based at the<br />

Campbelltown Library<br />

» Council opened the new Thorndon Park inclusive<br />

playground which has communications boards and<br />

Auslan signage<br />

» The commencement of Communication Access Symbol<br />

Accreditation for Campbelltown Library<br />

» International Day of People with Disability, ‘Celebration of<br />

Inclusion’ – 25 submissions demonstrating how people<br />

with disability are included in the Community were shared<br />

online on 3 December <strong>2022</strong><br />

» Council Christmas Card Design Competition – for<br />

the second year, Council worked with Adelaide East<br />

Education Centre to design Council’s <strong>2022</strong> Christmas<br />

Card. More than just a design competition, this initiative<br />

provides opportunity for partnership, relationship building,<br />

identifying of talents and celebration of young people with<br />

intellectual disability.<br />

To provide strategic advice on economic development and<br />

employment growth opportunities in Campbelltown.<br />

Key achievements and highlights:<br />

Included:<br />

» Increasing support services for small businesses,<br />

» Progressing Council’s Small Business Grants scheme,<br />

» Promoting the Shop Local concept,<br />

» Enhancing the Flavours of Campbelltown Food Trail,<br />

» Activating Brookside Cellars, and<br />

» Activating the newly redeveloped Magill Village.<br />

Reconciliation Advisory Committee<br />

Chair: Mr Shouwn Oosting<br />

Dadeh, Ms Hamideh Nouri (from March <strong>2023</strong>)<br />

Purpose of Committee:<br />

To provide strategic advice in relation to Reconciliation, and<br />

inform and monitor Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan.<br />

Number of meetings in <strong>2022</strong>/23: 4<br />

Key achievements and highlights:<br />

» Recognised Reconciliation Week <strong>2023</strong> with a<br />

Reconciliation display at the Library and Council Office.<br />

A movie night was held facilitated by Reconciliation<br />

Committee member Russell Jackson<br />

» Reconciliation Walk developed in partnership with City of<br />

Tea Tree Gully and Kaurna Elders at River Torrens Linear<br />

Park / Karrawirra Parri Athelstone<br />

» Commenced the development of the third iteration of<br />

Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan.<br />
