AlUla, <strong>the</strong> jewel of Saudi Arabia’s<br />

cultural heritage, captivates <strong>the</strong><br />

world at <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>tersection of history<br />

and <strong>in</strong>novation. As a grow<strong>in</strong>g hub of<br />

cultural significance, AlUla acts as a canvas<br />

where <strong>the</strong> past and present meet, craft<strong>in</strong>g<br />

compositions of artistic expression. Today,<br />

a series of excit<strong>in</strong>g new Artist Residency<br />

Programmes is unveiled, elevat<strong>in</strong>g AlUla<br />

as a cultural focus and <strong>in</strong>vit<strong>in</strong>g artists and<br />

designers from all around <strong>the</strong> world to contribute<br />

to <strong>the</strong> ongo<strong>in</strong>g storyl<strong>in</strong>e of this vital<br />

heritage.<br />

Arts AlUla and <strong>the</strong> French Agency for Al-<br />

Ula Development (Afalula) have launched<br />

<strong>the</strong> new season of <strong>the</strong> AlUla Artist Residency<br />

Programme, a total of six programmes – five<br />

residencies and one alumni programme –<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g place dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> 2023/<strong>2024</strong> season.<br />

Artists and designers from all over <strong>the</strong> world<br />

will participate <strong>in</strong> a rich and diverse range of<br />

residencies, spann<strong>in</strong>g visual arts and performance,<br />

botanical and landscap<strong>in</strong>g, heritage<br />

and <strong>in</strong>novation, and more.<br />

The new season of <strong>the</strong> AlUla Artist Residency<br />

Programme will fur<strong>the</strong>r establish<br />

AlUla as a global hub for creative m<strong>in</strong>ds,<br />

draw<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>spiration from its natural wonders,<br />

rich history, and diverse society. Toge<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>the</strong> programmes encourage artists and creatives<br />

to explore <strong>the</strong> boundless possibilities<br />

of AlUla, highlight<strong>in</strong>g it as <strong>the</strong> go-to dest<strong>in</strong>ation<br />

for immersive residencies.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> AlUla Arts Festival, visitors will<br />

get <strong>the</strong> first opportunity to see some of <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>g creations of <strong>the</strong> AlUla Artist Residency<br />

Programmes as <strong>the</strong>y preview <strong>the</strong> festival<br />

itself. The residencies will be showcas<strong>in</strong>g<br />

two exhibitions at <strong>the</strong> AlUla Arts Festival<br />

from 9th February until 2nd <strong>March</strong> <strong>2024</strong>. The<br />

exhibitions will be for <strong>the</strong> Visual Art Residency<br />

and <strong>the</strong> Design Residency. This collective<br />

and artistic <strong>in</strong>itiative cont<strong>in</strong>ues to establish<br />

AlUla as a vibrant cultural programme, encourag<strong>in</strong>g<br />

visitors to enjoy <strong>the</strong> remarkable<br />

curations of <strong>the</strong>se residency programmes.<br />
