DOORCO EXPANDS UK OPERATIONS
In its latest, and potentially biggest move yet, composite door company DoorCo has
unveiled plans to open a new manufacturing factory in Thorne. Total Fabricator caught
up with Head of Operations, Mark Towers, to discuss the new facility.
It’s great to end Q1 of the new year with a
big announcement: the expansion of our UK
operations with a brand-new facility in the
industrial town of Thorne, Doncaster.
Establishing this new site has been a project
I have been focused on for a while behind the
scenes, so I’m delighted to finally share our latest
and probably biggest growth news yet. The new
facility represents significant investment. It will
be the home of DoorCo Manufacturing, a new
arm to the business that will work alongside
our overseas partners in the production of our
growing composite door portfolio.
The site offers us an additional 20,000ft 2 (with
an additional 60,000ft 2 to grow into) to develop a
UK-based DoorCo Manufacturing operation. The
expansion is a natural progression for DoorCo
enabling us to grow, gain more control of our
manufacturing processes here and create more
space for innovation.
A space to create
DoorCo is well-known for leading the way
with innovation and it’s something we remain
passionate about and fully committed to
continuing. In fact, we want to do more, and
this new facility will give us greater flexibility to
create, test and trial more products right here in
the UK.
Doubling as both a manufacturing factory and
R&D space, this new facility allows us to have a
UK-based location to produce new products on a
full-time basis whilst also testing new concepts
and working on bespoke projects with both our
customers and for the benefit of the wider market.
The home of a new brand
One of the most exciting parts of the news is that
the DoorCo Manufacturing space will become the
home of a new brand, which is yet to be released.
We’re the proud owners of Original, Gripcore and
Flip but we knew there was an obvious opening
for the addition of a new product. We’re in the

final stages of bringing this to market now and it
is due to go into full production this Spring.
An opportunity to recruit
Of course, no new facility is complete without
a team dedicated to running it. Opening a new
facility in a new location means we are able to
provide the area with job opportunities and grow
one of our best assets, our team.
We’re proud to be one of Macclesfield’s largest
employers and have put a lot of work into the
packages we offer our staff, so it’s great to be
able to now expand our reach into a new area.
We’ve hired for a number of positions including
Production Operatives and management roles,
and it’s exciting to have fresh new faces in the
business to help us progress this new step in
our journey, alongside some key members of our
Macclesfield team who are also supporting in
getting our new endeavour off the ground.
Our HR team is working closely with our new
team members to fully integrate them into the
world of DoorCo and ensure they feel part of our
core team, as any member of our Macclesfield
base does.

DoorCo’s Managing Director, Dan Sullivan, says:
