£9K RAISED FOR GMF NET ZERO REFURB FEATURES METAL TECHNOLOGY
Manufacturer Quickslide has made a
substantial donation of £9,289 to GM
Fundraising, following the company’s
latest fundraising efforts. The money was
raised from a combination of Christmas
parties and raffles.
Adrian Barraclough, Chairman of Quickslide,
said: “At the heart of Quickslide is people,
whether that’s our fantastic team, customers,
or suppliers. That is why supporting charitable
causes and people less fortunate than us
has always felt like a natural extension of the
business.
“We’re always proud to support Gary [Morton]
and the great charitable work he does, and
we all had a great time raising money across
two Christmas parties and our raffles. Our
annual Christmas celebrations exemplify
our commitment not only to fostering strong
relationships, but also to making a positive
impact beyond business boundaries. Prizes
for the raffles were completely varied from
pot noodles to premium hospitality tickets to
Arsenal, but everyone dug deep and proved
themselves to be wholeheartedly generous
once again.
Metal Technology’s glazing systems have been
used for the striking commercial development,
1000 Aztec West, a £17m remodelling and
refurbishment of a 1980’s two-storey office
building in Bristol.
Designed by Scott Brownrigg Architects and
delivered by Beard for property group CEG, the
project is the South West’s first net zero carbon
out-of-town development.
With a BREEAM Excellent rating, the all-electric
building is powered by renewable energy and
boasts energy-efficient heating, cooling and
lighting systems.
The design required extensions to the existing
floorplates, the addition of a new floor and a
striking three-storey atrium to the centre of the
new, all-glass structure which has expanded the
building from 38,000 to 80,000ft 2 .
Located close to Aztec Lake, the building
incorporates a state-of-the-art gym and a cafe,
as well as places to eat, meet, drink and work.
The South East / West and the North East /
West façades feature two of Metal Technology’s
curtain walling products – System 17 SP (Silicone
Pointed) and System 17 Capped. The concave
façade, featuring the SP curtain walling, leads
to the feature atrium area. The façade utilizes a
range of extended feature caps to the transoms,
creating a striking architectural vista. Metal
Technology’s System 5-20D Hi+ thermally
enhanced doors were also installed.
Reynaers Aluminium’s global emission
reduction targets have officially been validated
by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The climate action organisation has confirmed
that both the company’s 2019 baseline targets,
as well as its ambitious 2030 goals, meet
the strict standards and have been approved
following a 15-month process.
Reynaers Group’s sustainability goals are among
the most ambitious targets within the SBTi
programme and include reducing scope one and
two ‘direct’ carbon emissions by 46.2%, and
scope three ‘indirect’ carbon emissions by 55%
per tonne of product by 2030, starting from a
baseline of 2019.
The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an
environmental partnership between the WWF and
the United Nations that sets emission reduction
Richard Hall
targets for businesses all over the world to
support companies with clear-cut, science-based
goals that help them operate more sustainably.
Richard Hall, Managing Director of Reynaers
Aluminium UK, said: “Reynaers is committed to
taking action to support climate change targets,
not just talk about them, and having our targets
validated by the SBTi clearly demonstrates our
determination to achieve real, quantifiable change
in our operations. www.reynaers.co.uk
