Avalon Streets report pending
Community consultation
for the Avalon Streets as
Shared Spaces ‘trial’ closed at
the end of February.
Council tells us its project
team is now reviewing 1625
online submissions as well as a
“significant” number of written
submissions received by post
and email.
“Given the volume of
submissions received, it will
take some time to review all
submissions and report back
to Council,” a spokesperson
told us.
“A report summarising the
submissions, community sentiment
and options will then be
presented to Council.”
Meantime Pittwater Ward
Councillor Miranda Korzy
reveals an unintended consequence
of the changes and the
safety concerns she holds (p16).
An update on the proposed
bus rerouting down Cook
Terrace and Melbourne Avenue
at Mona Vale, as reported last
month: Council says that so as
to allow sufficient time for staff
to compile feedback from the
community about the proposed
changes, it will table a report at
the next Local Traffic Committee
meeting in April.
It says Transport for NSW
and bus operator Keolis Downer
continue to experience safety
issues along Narrabeen Park
Parade and on the feedback
received from the community,
a number of options to resolve
the safety concerns were currently
under review.
Pittwater MP Rory Amon told
us he had met with residents on
site to hear their concerns and
had raised them in a meeting
with Keolis Downer.
“Cook Terrace seems an inappropriate
street for bus traffic,”
he said. “The bus operator has
undertaken to review this matter
and I am looking forward to
a sensible outcome.”
