“Having moved
away the one
thing we really
miss are the Pittwater
beaches.
We could never
really make our
mind up between Mona Vale
and Avalon. The sunrise over
Mona Vale is spectacular as
is the swim amongst the fish
in the Basin. The Avalon tidal
rock pool is also pretty special.
So we alternated daily between
the two. How blessed you guys
are!”

“Bilgola
has got a
lovely palm
tree-swathed
entrance
and a cuteas-a-button
surf club, the
pool is large
and protected
and the
beach is small and empty of
tourists most of the time. The
pool is deep and beautiful for
swimming.”

“I’ve lived here my whole life
and I’ve never been to Mona
Vale beach! But my favourite
is North Curl Curl – it’s quite
secluded, and with the rocks/
cliffs, it looks like you could
be somewhere in the Mediterranean,
so it’s like a getaway,
without getting away.”
That’s throwing Conde Nast a
‘Curly’ one.

“How do you ever choose
just one?! It really depends
who/where you are in life. As
a kid, I grew up on Freshie
beach and I’d still rate it as
one of the best, particularly
for families. As a teenager
with friends it was Queenscliff,
purely cause Manly was
the place to
be. As a single
adult for many
years (ie, not
thinking about
anyone but
me) North
Curly was
my fave.
And now,
as a dog owner,
South Mona where everyone
takes their dogs is just perfect!
Overall, I’d say Freshwater
would get the majority vote on
the beaches!”

“Being Melbourne
born,
our closest
‘proper’
beach back
then was
a 90+ min
drive… Our
closest and favourite
beach
at Freshwater
is a 10-minute drive away.
One thing we love is the beach
during a Winter Storm – so
amazing!”
And there you have it – conclusive
proof* that Freshwater
in the south and Mona Vale in
the north are indeed the best
beaches on the peninsula.
Unless you have a different
opinion…
*‘Conclusive proof’ means
we asked a random bunch of
people on the Northern Beaches
what they thought… and we’re
sure we could have covered off
all the stretches of sand on the
Northern Beaches if we’d asked
enough people.
