encouraging the community
to spend more on the Beaches
with local businesses.
Research indicates that a
staggering $3.6 billion was
spent outside the area in
2023, of which $238 million
was spent in the Chatswood
shopping precinct and $390
million in the city. Council’s
campaign aims to reverse
this trend by promoting the
benefits of shopping locally.
“We believe that supporting
local businesses is not only
beneficial for our economy
but also vital for maintaining
our unique character and
charm,” said Mayor Sue
Heins. “Every dollar spent
locally keeps the economy
circulating within the
community. It helps create
jobs, strengthen community
ties and sustain the vibrant
culture that makes living
here so amazing.” Distinctive
green stickers will be
appearing in shop windows
and on social media to help
encourage the community
to shop local. More info on
Management Plan
Council is planning its
approach to revising the
Plan of Management (PoM)
for Governor Phillip Park
at Palm Beach. The revised
PoM will consider current
and future management
ANZAC Day
and use of the entire park,
including a dog-off leash
area trial at North Palm
Beach. Council says broad
community engagement will
be undertaken beginning in
April “gathering ideas and
aspirations for the area” as
they develop the new PoM.
