Some Tiny Morsels to savour in April
Ale the chief at
Canchella in Mona
Beer lovers, put April 20 in your diary.
Starting at noon, Park House will host
Canchella, the Mona Vale pub’s beer
festival dedicated to canned craft
brews. Each $20 ticket gives access to
10 beer samples from the mainly local
breweries. There will be festival-style
food available, live entertainment and
an after party that kicks off at 9pm.
Luxe local chockie
shop ready for Easter
Chocolatier Gemma Hutchinson is
Easter-ready. Jack & Sandy, her Mona
Vale shop, has cute chocolate bunnies
made with antique moulds. There
are also luxe, handmade Easter eggs
decorated with coloured cocoa butter
and gold leaf and filled with caramels
and pralines. Chocolate is gluten-free
and dark chocolate is dairy-free.

tantalising menu
4 Pines’ Newport
establishment has a new
menu. Hospitality Brand
Manager Nathan Jolly said
that the venue will deliver an
elevated pub experience with
a seasonal, locally sourced
menu. Nibble on Berkelo rye
sourdough served with truffle
butter and vintage cheddar,
or share a T-bone steak or the
pork belly with yum Davidson
plums with your friends.
Roti Pies floats new
Narrabeen space
Roti Pies has recently opened a
second pie ship next to Porters in
North Narrabeen. Instead of pastry,
the pies are wrapped in a roti paratha
case. You’ll find all the old favourite
fillings like butter chicken here too.
More space means an expanded menu
– expect to see more main course
choices like pie floaters with dahl.

Three of a kind: Mexican
Bar Veinte’s catch cry is $14
margaritas all day every day –
except on Mondays when the
venue is closed! This small Mona
Vale Bar sure does pump out a
mean margarita. In fact, the two
best sellers are the Classic and
Chilli margaritas (pictured). Both
are shaken and poured over
ice. Pair one of these legendary
cocktails with snapper ceviche
or a serve of house tacos.
Alma’s mood board is distinctly
neutral and the decor is
pared-back but classy. This
popular Avalon restaurant
also showcases contemporary
Mexican fare blended with
local coastal produce and
western influences. Inventive
eats range from agave halloumi
with salsa matcha, to kingfish
ceviche, street corn and classic
guacamole.
Down Narrabeen way, you’ll
find Loco Birria. Drop in for a
bowl of loaded fries piled with
melted cheese, pico de gallo
and jalapeño aioli. If burritos
are more your thing, the menu
has flour tortillas stuffed with
cheese, baby spinach, lime
and cilantro rice, black beans
and cabbage. Add-ons include
chipotle chicken or braised
beef.
