24 The Star Thursday April 18 2024 SCHOOL OPEN DAYS Burnside High School Find Your Path Burnside High School is pleased to invite members of the community to our Open Evening on Tuesday 14 May 2024. We are aware of the significance parents place on the transition from Primary or Intermediate to Secondary School and how important it is to make the right decision about this transition. Burnside High School is a large secondary school and a centre for academic excellence. We have an outstanding record of academic, cultural and sporting success. The size of the school ensures that there is an exceptionally wide range of subjects and extracurricular opportunities. This provides flexibility for students to follow a pathway suited to their ability, interests and skills. The unique structure of the school retains all the benefits of a large school but with students in Divisions of approximately 600 students. This ensures that our students are known on an individual basis and are supported and mentored by senior students, Form Teachers, Deans and Guidance Counsellors. This strong pastoral and guidance focus helps Burnside High School students strive to excel and develop into well rounded New Zealanders. Students achieve well above the level of similar schools in the attainment of NCEA certificates and endorsements and perform to the highest level in a range of local, regional and national academic, cultural and sporting competitions. The school is also renowned for its Specialist Music Programme, the only such programme in the country. The Open Evening offers Year 8 students and their families a chance to view the facilities and to experience some of the opportunities Burnside High School is proud to offer its students. At Marian we have amazing teachers who care about us and our learning. When you have a good connection with a teacher it makes going to school special. People told me that high school will be one of the best times of your life. I did not believe them until Feast Day. Being a part of all the fun stuff made me feel like I fit in. I thought to myself Marian is my place, where I belong. I am so thankful for all of the amazing experiences I have had. I am thankful for the staff and the students because we are a family. They can appear in any joint, such as the neck, back, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, and feet.
