Exemptions<br />

At the time <strong>of</strong> this handbook going to press the student union and the<br />

sports association fees for 1976 have not been determined. It is expected<br />

that they will be:<br />

Full-time students $35.00<br />

Part-time students $16.00<br />

Co-operative students $25.00<br />

For all college purposes a full-time student is one enrolled for subjects<br />

which require a total class, tutorial and/or laboratory contact time <strong>of</strong><br />

14 hours or more per week.<br />

A part-time student is one enrolled for subjects which require less than<br />

14 hours per week contact time.<br />

Students who are included in the category 'co-operative students' listed<br />

in this section are those enrolling in the following years <strong>of</strong> courses:<br />

Applied science degree course, 2nd and 3rd years;<br />

Art (graphic design) degree course, 3rd year;<br />

Civil engineering degree course, 3rd and 4th years;<br />

Electrical engineering degree course, 3rd and 4th years;<br />

Production engineering diploma course, 2nd and 3rd years;<br />

Production engineering degree course, 2nd 3rd and 4th years.<br />

A student who has enrolled at the college as a result <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fer made<br />

by the Victorian Universities Admissions Committee (VUAC) and<br />

who receives an <strong>of</strong>fer, not including an irregular <strong>of</strong>fer, from the<br />

VUAC for a higher preference course may receive a refund <strong>of</strong> all fees<br />

paid if notice <strong>of</strong> the withdrawal from the college and application<br />

for the refund is lodged at the student records <strong>of</strong>fice, room A1 1,<br />

administration building, prior to Tuesday 30 March 1976.<br />

A student who withdraws from the college, not being the recipient<br />

<strong>of</strong> a higher preference regular <strong>of</strong>fer from the VUAS, may receive a<br />

refund <strong>of</strong> fees, less a $5.@ service charge, if notice <strong>of</strong> the withdrawal<br />

from the college and application fdr the refund is lodged at the student<br />

records <strong>of</strong>fice, room A1 1, administration building, prior to Tuesday<br />

30 March 1976.<br />

No refunds <strong>of</strong> fees will be made where a student withdraws from study<br />

or lodges an application for refund <strong>of</strong> fees after Tuesday 30 March<br />

1976.<br />

Exemptions<br />

Where a student has undertaken a subject at another institution and<br />

wishes to receive credit for the subject towards a course at <strong>Swinburne</strong><br />

College <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong>, formal application for such exemptions must<br />

be made.<br />

Application forms are available from, and when completed, should be<br />

lodged at the student records <strong>of</strong>fice, room A1 1, administratinn building.<br />

Original documentary evidence should be attached to every application.<br />

Original documents shall be returned to the applicant if a photostat copy<br />

is also attached.<br />

Students should apply for exemptions at the earliest possible time.<br />
