The touching tale of two lovers unfolding in a magnificent historical setting.
Vivid and colorful, smooth and intense – the riveting new medieval novel by best-selling author Ricarda
Jordan portrays the moving tale of two lovers set against the background of the expulsion of the Cathars and
the coronation of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II.
Mainz, 1212. During the celebrations of the coronation of Frederick II, the young knight Dietmar von
Ornemünde makes the acquaintance of beautiful Sophia. For both of them, it is love at first sight – yet, a
marriage between Dietmar and Sophia is completely out of the question. Sophia’s father used unlawful
means to take possession of the land and property of Dietmar’s family, even trying to kill Dietmar’s parents.
The love between the two seems to have no future, all the more so when Sophia is sent off to the court of
Raymond VI, Count of Toulouse – far away from Dietmar. On her way there, she is caught up in the turmoil of
the Albigensian crusade. At the same time, Dietmar dares to reclaim his inheritance – an endeavor with
horrific consequences, and not just for the two lovers.
„A novel that can easily be read on a weekend and can even make you forget that there might be chores that
need to be done.“ Histo-Couch.de about THE PLAGUE DOCTOR
