A heartwarming story about the special bond between human and dog as well as about the question what is
more important to us: Things or love. Touching, thought provoking, and beautifully wrapped: The perfect little
Christmas book.
Chester is a very nice dog that lives in a very nice family – mainly as a playmate for Kevin, the son. However,
Kevin has less and less time for him – school is so stressful and he is always very busy »chilling« with his
friends – whatever that may mean. It is a similar story with the parents. They, too, have hardly any time for
him anymore. When they get the chance to go on an unexpected family vacation and cannot find appropriate
care for the dog, the father does not hesitate long before abandoning Chester in the street…
A homeless man by the name of Hannes finds Chester and takes him under his wing. He gives Chester the
name Bolle and with Hannes, the dog gets to experience a completely new world. The whole day long, they
are outside and everywhere they go, they meet the nicest people; they are always there for one another
helping each other whenever they can. In the process, the reader finds out about Hannes’s tragic story: He
lost his entire family in a car accident. Unable to cope with this dramatic event, he lost his house, his job, and
all his money so that he finally ended up on the street. Some time later, shortly before Christmas, when
Hannes and Bolle run by chance into Bolle’s former family, Bolle could at last return to his cozy home and
into the arms of his family. He could do that.
But what is the worth of a warm living room that is filled with people to whom he is nothing but a burden? For
Bolle, this is a no-brainer and he makes his choice in favor of life on the street. He chooses Hannes. His giant
heart. He chooses someone who loves him unconditionally and whom he can love back. And perhaps Bolle
can even contribute a tiny little bit to saving Hannes…
An enchanting little book – an entertaining read and a perfect gift
