Madness meets progress. You’ve never seen research like this.
The world of science does not consist exclusively of clever, groundbreaking research that furthers our
knowledge. Some of the studies conducted simply leave you shaking your head. Yet as incredible as these
studies sometimes are, they’re also funny and entertaining. Not only that, they also convey insights that
appear to make no sense, which, as is well known, is the most exciting kind of knowledge.
To cite a few examples: riding a roller coaster reduces asthma symptoms; chickens like beautiful people; and
the effect of a heavy metal concert is similar to a fist fight.
Gunther Müller has compiled the world's most preposterous studies and describes how they were conducted.
What he discovered was more than just surprising insights. These research findings might even save lives
because, after all, who knows whether an empty beer bottle is deadlier than a full one during a bar-room
brawl.
Gunther Müller was born in Dresden in 1980 and was educated at the University of Frankfurt. A political
scientist, social scientist, and social psychologist, he is fascinated far more by the bizarre questions, curious
methods, and peculiar insights of science itself than by any academic seminar.
