As a journalist with a focus on cinema and pop culture, he worked primarily for television stations such as ARD and SWR-Fernsehen, and radio stations Südwest-, Hessischer, and Saarländischer Rundfunk. He has published books on cinematic topics including director Roland Emmerich, actor Ewan McGregor, and the Star Wars phenomenon. Since the early 1990s, he has worked on various TV series and produced feature films and documentaries. Markus Tschiedert was born in 1961. He is a film reporter and lives in Berlin. Foreign Rights Guide August 2012 – January 2013 Inge Notz / Katrin Hummel: WINTRY EARTH My Life as a Maidservant Autobiography/ Memoir 300 pages 978-3-7857-2459-0 Hardcover November 2012 The real-life story of a maidservant, written in a touching and poignant manner Inge Notz was born in 1932. Her father beats her and her siblings, and the mother puts her daughters before the plough because she does not have farm animals to do the work in the fields. At the age of 10, Inge has to leave her parents’ house to become a maidservant on a farm. Now she is all alone and has to fend for herself. She is scared of her new mistress and often when her day’s work is done, she finds herself crying. When the War ends, she is allowed to return home but hard work and regular beatings are the only things waiting for her there. When Inge is fifteen years old, she seeks employment again, this time as a maidservant at an inn, the "Adlerwirt". Even though she is not spared from hard work, there are also beautiful moments: During the winter months, she is allowed to join the others in the warm parlor and help them with knitting and she witnesses the birth of a little calf. Inge is almost happy. And then she falls in love. However, penniless as she is, there seems to be not the slightest glimmer of hope… Today, Inge Notz lives outside of Marktoberdorf, the capital of the Bavarian district of Ostallgäu, and she is in good health. In the book, she acts as the first-person narrator telling her story, which was written down by Katrin Hummel. Kathrin Hummel born in 1968 in Ulm/Germany, studied in Strasbourg und Fribourg French, geography and English. She is an editor for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and author of several novels.
