Visit 3 of Europe’s favourite festive<br />
cities and soak up all the magic of<br />
their enchanting Christmas markets<br />
on this great value weekend break.<br />
We start with a local departure during<br />
the very early morning for our<br />
journey via the Cross Channel ferry<br />
or Eurotunnel to the Continent. From<br />
here we make our way to Ostend.<br />
We plan to arrive during the mid to<br />
late afternoon. You make your way<br />
to the main square – Wapenplein –<br />
where you can spend time browsing<br />
the market stalls and enjoying the<br />
sight and sounds of visitors twirling<br />
and gliding on the ice. After the<br />
chance for an early evening meal,<br />
and perhaps a Belgium beer,<br />
(payable locally), we leave Ostend<br />
and continue to our hotel.<br />
On day 2, after breakfast, we head<br />
for the hilltop town of Valkenburg<br />
where the day is free for you to<br />
discover the legendary Christmas<br />
market. This is housed in<br />
spectacular limestone caves which<br />
are transformed into glittering<br />
grottoes, with a mass of candles<br />

creating a truly magical scene.<br />
During the afternoon you may wish to<br />
join our optional excursion to<br />
‘Winterland’ in nearby Maastricht.<br />
Here you can enjoy the festive<br />
atmosphere and browse over 50<br />
stalls with beautiful hand painted<br />
ornaments and delicious traditional<br />
Dutch fare. Price - £10 per person.<br />
Treat yourself to an early evening<br />
meal Dutch style, (payable locally),<br />
before we head back to the hotel.<br />
On day 3, after breakfast, check out<br />
of the hotel and make our way to the<br />
‘chocolate and lace’ city of Bruges.<br />
Don’t miss the Mediaeval<br />
architecture, quaint canals which<br />
provide the backdrop for the<br />
Christmas market.<br />

Enjoy a Christmas market shopping<br />
weekend – an unmissable<br />
opportunity for bargain shopping<br />
along with a chance for sightseeing<br />
on this great value break.<br />
We start with a local departure for<br />
our journey via the cross Channel<br />
ferry or Eurotunnel to France. We<br />
firstly visit Lille. This has one of the<br />
best shopping centres in Northern<br />
France with covered arcades,<br />
colourful squares and a Christmas<br />
market. Afterwards we check in to<br />
our hotel where rooms have been<br />
booked with private facilities.<br />
On day 2 we visit one of the loveliest<br />
and best preserved Mediaeval towns<br />
in Europe – Bruges. This is in a<br />
village setting for a Christmas market<br />
where you will find beautifully<br />
wrapped chocolates, colourful sweets<br />
and home made decorations.<br />
On day 3 we complete our weekend<br />
with a visit to Cite Europe. Here<br />
there are over 160 shops, boutiques,<br />
delicatessens and a hypermarket<br />
selling a huge range of wines and<br />
foods. Leave during the early<br />
afternoon and make our way home<br />
arriving back later on.<br />
