are clearly seen and the overall shape <strong>of</strong> the crystal is clear with relatively sharp facets seen on four sides. Note also the close<br />

association with the inner membrane <strong>of</strong> the mitochondrion. 2. Plastid in the phloem <strong>of</strong> corn; the lattice lines are sometimes<br />

clear. 3, 5 and 6. Enlargements <strong>of</strong> phloem plastid crystals seen in 2. 4. Protein crystal in the cytoplasm <strong>of</strong> M. glabra.<br />
