24. The captains on arrival at <strong>the</strong>ir rendezvous point receive<br />
such of <strong>the</strong> following information and instructions as may be<br />
necessary:<br />
1. Any later information or orders regarding <strong>the</strong> situation<br />
or problem.<br />
2. The mission of <strong>the</strong> battalion.<br />
3. The limits of <strong>the</strong> target sector for each battery,<br />
including:<br />
(a) Location of <strong>the</strong> enemy and friendly<br />
troops.<br />
(b) The reference point or points.<br />
(c) The target or targets if known.<br />
(d) The kind of communication<br />
that has been<br />
established with <strong>the</strong> friendly<br />
troops.<br />
(e) Posts of auxiliary observers.<br />
4.<br />
Concerning <strong>the</strong> position.<br />
(a) The general front and<br />
limits.<br />
(b) The battalion station.<br />
(c) If desirable or necessary, <strong>the</strong><br />
general location of <strong>the</strong><br />
battery commander's station.<br />
(d) Communication between<br />
batteries and battalion.<br />
(e) Limits for each battery.<br />
(f) Degree of cover or amount of concealment required.<br />
(g) If desirable<br />
or necessary, <strong>the</strong> general location of <strong>the</strong><br />
limbers.<br />
(h) General location of <strong>the</strong> battalion combat train.<br />
5. Any special<br />
instructions regarding <strong>the</strong> occupation of <strong>the</strong><br />
position.<br />
6 . Opening of fire: Whe<strong>the</strong>r immediately or when ordered,<br />
or whe<strong>the</strong>r batteries shall report "Ready to fire."<br />
7. Special precaution for security required<br />
of captains,<br />
especially those of <strong>the</strong> flank batteries.<br />
25. The captains having received <strong>the</strong>ir instructions at once<br />
proceed to reconnoiter and occupy <strong>the</strong>ir positions,<br />
according to<br />
<strong>the</strong> principles outlined in Subject No. 19.<br />
26. The reconnoissance officers perform <strong>the</strong> duties ordered,<br />
each assisted, unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise directed, by a scout corporal and<br />
