A small button on <strong>the</strong> bottom facilitates <strong>the</strong> holding of <strong>the</strong> sitometer<br />
in <strong>the</strong> hand and a string may be attached to it to secure <strong>the</strong> instrument to<br />
<strong>the</strong> person when not in use.<br />
(a) To measure <strong>the</strong> angle of site: Hold <strong>the</strong> instrument by <strong>the</strong> button<br />
in <strong>the</strong> right hand, place <strong>the</strong> edge with <strong>the</strong> two little windows vertically<br />
against <strong>the</strong> upper part of <strong>the</strong> right cheek in such manner that in looking<br />
into <strong>the</strong> smaller upper window <strong>the</strong> right eye will see <strong>the</strong> bubble and<br />
scale inside and <strong>the</strong> objectives to <strong>the</strong> right on <strong>the</strong> outside.<br />
Bring <strong>the</strong> bubble between <strong>the</strong> two central lines by slowly inclining<br />
<strong>the</strong> head, and read <strong>the</strong> graduation that coincides with <strong>the</strong> object on <strong>the</strong><br />
terrain of which you wish to find <strong>the</strong> angle of site.<br />
The graduations are 5 mils apart.<br />
(b) Determination of <strong>the</strong> distance or position in rear of <strong>the</strong> crest<br />
