Which hinge type?<br />
Given the factors:<br />
• What is the desired opening angle?<br />
• What is the hinge arm type?<br />
• If not, what is the side panel thickness?<br />
• What is the door thickness, size and weight?<br />
• How will the hinge be mounted to the door–<br />
(Screw-mount or press-fit)?<br />
• What is the mounting plate thickness?<br />
• What is the tab?<br />
Use the following formula to determine overlay:<br />
Hinge type minus mounting plate type plus tab* = overlay<br />
* For aluminum profile doors only, always use 3 mm.<br />

How many hinges per door?<br />
There is no hard and fast rule which applies. When determining the number<br />
of hinges needed, the main factors to consider are door size and weight.<br />
A trial mounting is advisable in case of any doubt, such as with doors<br />
supporting mirrors, or unusually wide doors. Avoid disproportionate door<br />
width/height ratios. Use this table for standard, conventional-material<br />
doors. When in doubt, always allow for an extra hinge.<br />
