HSBC appoints
new CEO
Nick Winsor has been appointed as the
new chief executive officer for HSBC
Offshore Islands.
He will oversee the local retail and
commercial bank, offshore bank, asset
management, private bank and trust
businesses of the HSBC Group in
Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
He replaces Martin Spurling, who has
been appointed CEO of HSBC Turkey.
‘I am delighted to be moving to
Jersey to take up this new role and look
forward to developing the business
across all three jurisdictions. The range
of activity and services delivered by the
bank in these locations is incredibly
diverse and it will be a privilege to lead
these businesses as we strengthen our
position in a number of key markets,’
he said.
Mr Winsor brings with him over 27
years’ experience in financial services
with the HSBC Group and his most
recent appointment was president and
chief executive officer of HSBC in
Taiwan. He has also held a number of
senior roles in Brunei, Hong Kong,
India, Japan, Qatar, Singapore, the
United Arab Emirates and in the UK.

Mercator grows senior
management team
Independent fiduciary and financial
services firm Mercator has
strengthened its private client trust
and corporate administration senior
management team.
Stuart Dowding has been
promoted to associate director and
will head up operations for
Mercator’s private client teams. Anita
Robert and Jacki James have both
been promoted to senior
management level.
Mr Dowding has extensive
knowledge of the fiduciary and
professional services sector having
spent over 17 years practising within
the industry. Since joining Mercator
in 2009, he has looked after a range
of various structures for high net
worth individuals and large property
developers.
Mrs Robert has been with the firm
for over 10 years having as a senior
administrator, progressing through to
senior manager. She has now taken
on the role of senior operations
manager, a newly created role which
will oversee all Mercator’s internal
business systems.

accounting department, Mrs James
is responsible for client accounting
services to the private client and
managed trust teams. She will also
be involved in various projects that
are currently being undertaken within
the company to focus on enhancing
its internal procedures.
Managing director, David Preston
said that the promotions were a
reflection of the hard work and input
to the business.
‘The firm has worked hard to
maintain its growth over the past few
years and this has enabled us to
create further opportunities for our
team to ensure development for staff
as well as acknowledging their
achievements,’ he said.
