regulation and compliance
and we ask does Guernsey
get the balance right?’
Welcome to the autumn edition of
Contact magazine. I hope you’ll
appreciate the efforts that go into
producing our bi-monthly magazine but
all objective comments are welcome.
With our president Julian Winser
supporting competitors at the recent
Commonwealth Games, it falls on me to
tell you about what’s in this packed
edition of Contact Magazine.
We profile our transport sector with a
special report on Condor. I’m sure you’ll
find the article enlightening in mind of
recent news headlines involving
technical issues and regulatory
pressure that have challenged the
companies high standards of customer
service. Following Guernsey Chamber’s
British/Russo event of 2009, we also
hear from a group of Guernsey business
professionals who are forming strong
ties with our Russian cousins. The
spotlight also falls on regulation and
compliance and we ask does Guernsey
get the balance right?
I would personally like to thank Colin
Le Ray, Guernsey’s airport director, for
taking the time out to be interviewed for
our PUBLICi feature. My thanks also to
everyone who contributes to the high
standards of editorial content now
appearing in Contact.
Autumn is a busy time for Chamber,
the Annual Dinner is fast approaching
on Thursday 25th November and our
thanks go out to Guernsey Event
Company for their support in selling all
the tickets on our behalf. The night
promises to be excellent with leading
private equity figure John Moulton
addressing the dinner guests.
We should also highlight two recent
Chamber lunches that have proved sell
out events. Simon Edsall of Condor
provided us with a frank and thoughtful
insight into life at the forefront of
Guernsey’s transport sector and Tamara
Menteshvilli updated Chamber members
on life at the Channel Island Stock
Exchange. My thanks also goes to
Image Group for their continued support
of the Chamber lunches at OGH Hotel.
