IEME - an International Know- How Transfer Institution in South-East Europe
The <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>for</strong> Enterprise Management and Engineering (IEME), a new university level education institution, is
operating since October 2001. Its mission is, in cooperation with partners worldwide, to services economy and
industry development in Kosovo.
The main activities of IEME are: Higher Education (responding on university level), Vocational Education and Training,
Transfer of Technology and Know How, Business Support Services, Publications, International Research and
Development.
IEME intends to get the leading role in the implementation of modern technologies, to in<strong>for</strong>ming the people about new
trends and in up-bringing to quality.

Preparing the unemployed Work<strong>for</strong>ce <strong>for</strong> the challenge of a united Europe
Part one Presentation of an innovative employment project.
The so called “e<strong>Learning</strong> Project” is the largest Blended <strong>Learning</strong> project ever to be undertaken by the regional AMS of
Styria, Upper and Lower Austria in cooperation with bit schulungscenter. In nine locations more than 1.300 unemployed
are being trained in a wide variety of fields. The trainees are being prepared especially to meet the requirements of
companies working in an European context. This is being realised by offering topics stating from basic IT skills all the
way up to Eastern European languages, Project management and soft skills like communication and presentation
skills. The combination of e<strong>Learning</strong> and face to face training made it possible to provide a highly personalized and
individual curriculum <strong>for</strong> each trainee.

Forecast on the development of the labour market with regard to the effects of the extension of the EU. Risks, challenges
and chances <strong>for</strong> enterprises and work<strong>for</strong>ce:
What skills will be needed in Austria and our eastern neighbours in the next few years?
Where will a properly trained work<strong>for</strong>ce be available?
Which ways will companies go to recruit the employees they will need in the future?
Educational strategies of the AMS as the answers to these risks and challenges.
Are new models of vocational training necessary?
What new ways with respect to training of the unemployed are promising?
Which possibilities are given by new learning technologies like e<strong>Learning</strong> and Blended <strong>Learning</strong>?
The participants will be invited to engage themselves in the discussion in part two of this presentation.
