Our elderly population has many needs that Nurse Aides need to deal with<br />
on any given day. Today we will explore four of those areas. This course<br />

• Module 1 - Delirium, Dementia & Depression - Interventions Explored;<br />
• Module 2 - Preventing Dehydration and Malnutrition;<br />
• Module 3 - End of Life Hospice and Bridge Programs;<br />

ICD-10 — eight Hour Workshop for Current Coders<br />
This course is ideal for current coding professionals looking for an update<br />
and review of the issues and challenges they will face with the upcoming<br />
ICD-10 adoption. Effective October 13, 2013, the US Department of Health<br />
and Human Services will require that the standard ICD-9 code sets, which<br />
are used in medical billing and coding to report health care diagnoses<br />
and procedures, be replaced by ICD-10. This move from ICD-9 to ICD-10<br />
will have a significant impact on healthcare providers and the process for<br />
which they receive reimbursement.<br />

Review local anesthetics for Dental Hygienists<br />
The PA State Board of Dentistry granted registered dental hygienists the<br />
opportunity to administer local anesthetic within their scope of practice. To<br />
be eligible to apply for biennial permit renewal, a three (3) hour minimum<br />
of the hygienist’s twenty (20) hours of continuing education must be<br />
related to the administration of local anesthetics. This course will refamiliarize<br />
the hygienists with the solutions, instruments, and techniques for<br />
safe, effective local anesthesia. We will review topical and injectable local<br />
anesthetics agents, appropriate use of local anesthetics/vasoconstrictors<br />
based on the dental procedure and patient’s medical history, and proper<br />
procedures and techniques for the administration of local anesthesia.<br />
Please wear scrubs for the lab portion of the class.<br />

CHILD CARE HEALTH ADVOCATE COURSE<br />
eaRl 160 Child Care Health advocate — (Cr3)<br />
The Special Studies in Early Childhood Education: Child Care Health<br />
Advocate course is intended to prepare the Child Care Practitioner<br />
to function in the role of a Child Care Health Advocate (CCHA).The<br />
course will address 15 different health and safety modules as a resource<br />
for child care directors, teachers, assistant teachers, and child<br />
care practitioners. The Child Care Health Advocate who will be working<br />
in a child care setting will learn to assess, identify, and prioritize<br />
health and safety needs of children and staff. The completion of the<br />
course assists the participant in learning their role in participating in<br />
health and safety activities to ensure activities occur in their facility.<br />
