NEW! Baby Classical guitar Building
Need a guitar to travel with? Join us to build, from scratch, a gutsy
classical guitar with the baby body style. These instruments are fun and
they fit in the upper luggage compartment, qualifying as carry-on. We
will examine the purity of musical nuance to be found in the differences
between the building of steel string acoustics and the structural simplicity
of building a guitar meant for nylon strings. This course will be lots of fun
and you will have a finished product that will become a family heirloom.
Open Lab time may be required to complete your project.
electric guitar Building
Master Craftsman Jeffrey Boerner will teach you the amazing inside techniques
that go into building and finishing your own electric guitar. While
no kits are used, your fee includes all passive electronics, fret board, tuning
machines, bridges, body blank and neck needed to complete your project
using our CNC router, hand and power shaping tools from our lab. Finishing
techniques and inlaying are also covered, so it is helpful for students
to have some knowledge of woodworking, but it is not mandatory. Most
important is the professional playability of your finished guitar; setting
up and adjusting for intonation and action is also addressed to ensure
that your project sounds as good as any other guitar on the market today.
Enroll early as enrollment is limited to 6 people at a time.
