43% employees. The number of managers and supervisors was at 536.<br />

Permanent employees accounted for 91% of job positions. Contract<br />

workers, temporary and part-time employees constituted <strong>the</strong> rest. Major<br />

jobs locations included China, Germany, Indonesia and India.<br />

Admin, technical and support staff formed 55% of <strong>the</strong> total workforce<br />

followed by supervised production workers (25%), mid-level management<br />

(15%) and senior management (5%).<br />

Age, gender and diversity<br />

Men accounted for 70% of <strong>DyStar</strong> employees while women held 30%<br />

of <strong>the</strong> jobs. Men formed <strong>the</strong> bulk of <strong>the</strong> workforce (83%) in production<br />

plants, a common trend in chemicals manufacturing industry. However,<br />

we had a better gender balance in offices, including headquarters,<br />

where women were 46% of <strong>the</strong> workforce.<br />

Employees in <strong>the</strong> age group of 30-50 years accounted for 71% of <strong>the</strong><br />

workforce followed by employees in <strong>the</strong> ‘less than 30 years’ age group<br />

(16%) and those more than 50 years age (13%).<br />

Female representation in <strong>the</strong> three age groups we tracked was as follows:<br />

41% in ‘less than 30 years’, 30% in <strong>the</strong> age group of 30-50 years, and<br />

26% in <strong>the</strong> group consisting employees above 50 years of age.Women<br />

held 49% of admin, technical and support jobs. Their share in senior<br />

management and mid-level management was 13% and 28% respectively.<br />

Ethnic diversity<br />

We respect <strong>the</strong> diversity of all cultures and values. <strong>DyStar</strong>’s policy is to<br />

offer equal opportunities for employment and growth to people based<br />

on merit. Globally we employed more than 35 nationalities indicating a rich<br />

diversity of our workforce.<br />

Disability<br />

We employed 15 persons with some form of physical disability in <strong>2011.</strong><br />

Three of <strong>the</strong>se were women.<br />
