Toledo Boxers Score Success
EATHER pushers of the New
York Central Athletic Association
of Toledo, on the night of March 29,
furnished considerable entertainment
for 600 members and guests of that
body at the third annual boxing show.
F. C. Stellmacher, who headed the
committee on arrangements, bemoaned
the fact that although he had issued
challenges to any Association west of
Buffalo which thought it could produce
box-fighters of Toledo calibre,
his efforts proved unavailing. However,
he and his stable are still of the
same mind and any aspiring railroader
spoiling for fight can make arrangements
with him by addressing
him in care of the New York Central,
Air Line Junction, Ohio.
Lefty Farmer, Switchman, Air Line Junction
Yard, fought a four-round draw with Mickey
Nelson, Terminal Athletic Club, at 140 pounds.
Chet Erskine, Switchman at Air Line Junction,
received decision over Kayo Grau from
Terminal Athletic Club, at 115 pounds.
Kayo Morgan, Terminal Athletic Club, defeated
Jimmy Katz, of the same club, in a fourround
comedy bout, at 110 pounds.
Tommy Griffith, Switchman, Air Line Junction,
fought a four-round draw with George
Hart, Terminal Athletic Club, at 140 pounds.
Eddie Poitinger, Switchman, Air Line Junction,
received a shade decision over Billy
O'Brien, Terminal Athletic Club, in a fourround
bout, at 150 pounds.
Johnny Lewis, Switchman at Air Line Junction,
received a decision over Phil Meccurrio,
Terminal Athletic Club, in a six-round semifinal
bout, at 140 pounds.
In the main event Teddy White,
New York Central Policeman, defeated
Kid Birmingham of the Terminal
Athletic Club, in a six-round
bout at 130 pounds.
The committee staging the bouts
consisted of F. C. Stellmacher, chairman;
Ira McClaren, E. C. Home,
Teddy White, E. J. Troitke and Lieut.
Runge.
The bowling team of the New York Central Athletic Association of Albany, which
captured the Line East title, was a strong contender at the Columbus finals and
rounded out a busy season by bowling regularly in the Albany City League.
