The National Lottery and the recently
launched Health Lottery, can signifi cantly
enhance an Independent Retailers
bottom line.
Figures show that Independent Retailers earned
an average of £9,500 in commission last year.
With demand outstripping supply, if you’re
interested in applying for a terminal for the
National Lottery, Camelot has a selection
process to determine which outlets will be
considered.
The process starts with information on Retailers
provided by independent external Suppliers.
Camelot maintains a database of approximately
32,000 potential Retailers who meet basic
eligibility criteria. The sales potential of each
outlet as well as additional criteria, including
staff commitment and enthusiasm, access to
the outlet (car parking) and Store appearance
and standards are all considered.
Whilst demand may outstrip supply, this doesn’t
mean Camelot has a waiting list. When a
terminal becomes available a fair and rational

selection process takes place rather than a
‘next on the list’ approach.
If you’d like to register interest in having a
National Lottery terminal in your Store, you need
to log on to www.lotteryretailer.co.uk.
Add your Store’s details to the website and, if
you make any changes to your outlet remember
to update your entry.
If your Store is selected Camelot will contact
you to arrange fi tment of the terminal.

In September last year The Health Lottery was
launched by Northern & Shell Group. The game
is played through Retailers’ existing e-payment
terminals and each Retailer receives a fi ve per
cent commission on sales and one per cent
of prize pay outs. Ticket sale projections for
The Health Lottery Game indicate that it will
generate £50m a year with the money going to
health related good causes across Britain. For
example, this could pay for respite holidays for
young people who are the main carers for their
parents.
