Student Housing Office of Career Guidance & University Applications In the Netherlands students live in university or private residences that cost appr. E 300 – 400 per month. University Colleges in Utrecht, Amsterdam, The Hague and Middelburg offer a campus where students can live. Of course you pay extra for room and boarding (approx 6,000 - 8,000 Eruo per year). It is very difficult to find a room in popular cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht. Try to sign up for a room as soon as you know where you want to study. There are long waiting lists. Some Universities have special arrangements for students who live at a distance of more than 150 km from the University. You always need to apply for housing and there are always waiting lists. Most of the Universities offer 2 to 4 information rounds per day. You can sign up in advance through internet. During the open day you can not only get a lot of information about the studies but you can also get in touch with students and teachers at the information market, or sit in on a lecture. This is a great chance to see if you like a particular course/university. That is a kind of fair where universities and schools present their programs. Onderwijsbeurs takes place in some cities in the Netherlands like Rotterdam, Utrecht and Eindhoven. Office of Career Guidance & University Applications Applying in Canada There is no central application process for Canadian universities. Check individual websites for application guidelines. Schools with best funding for UWC/IB students include: Trent, Simon Fraser, York, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto and Quest. Pros & Cons � Apply to a faculty (ex. Humanities) choose major later � Not as specific as UK system, not as broad as USA Liberal Arts � Opportunity to work while studying & after � No central application procedure � Tuition costs range from C$10,000 – C$24,000 � Some scholarships available for International Students Application requirements � No central website for application!
