Selina holds a bachelor of science in agriculture <strong>from</strong> the University of Nairobi. Before joining CCS<br />

in 2004, she worked with PECOLIDO, a livestock development organization in Pokot. Her experience<br />

is in teaching, facilitating communities to design and implement their own projects, and in the<br />

use of participatory methodologies in organic farming and extension.<br />

Paul is a British consultant in development communication. He holds a PhD in journalism and mass<br />

communications <strong>from</strong> the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He specializes in easy-to-understand<br />

extension materials, developed through intensive writeshops like the one used to produce this book.<br />

He also provides consultancy services in various aspects of development communication. He has<br />

worked extensively in Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa.<br />

John has worked with the Diocese of Embu Development and Social Services for the last 16 years<br />

in the field of community development. From 1989 to 1997 he was youth development coordinator,<br />

and since 1999 has been the assistant programme coordinator of the Diocese’s integrated rural development<br />

programme. He studied community development, development studies and rural development<br />

at the Uganda Institute of Development Studies. He has taken a lead role in institutionalizing<br />

a community-based savings and credit programme, which has over 4000 members and a capital base<br />

of KSh 30 million.<br />
