Stefan holds a doctoral degree in agricultural economics and a diploma in agricultural sciences. His<br />

experience includes managing both EU-relevant and development projects. He has worked for 2 years in<br />

development collaboration in Latin America. He specializes in project evaluation and impact monitoring,<br />

impact assessment of policy instruments, sector analysis and agricultural modelling, environmental<br />

and economic support, policy information systems, and capacity and institution building.<br />

Helga holds a master’s degree in land use planning. She has worked for more than 20 years in development<br />

co-operation. She lived and worked about 8 years in Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand before<br />

joining GTZ in Eschborn. There she worked as desk officer for Mozambique and Malawi as well as<br />

for the Technical Environmental Department. Her professional experiences include agricultural and<br />

rural development, land use and regional planning, watershed management and environmental impact<br />

assessment. Helga has also worked for FAO, GTZ and for World Vision Germany.<br />

Yakobo holds a diploma in animal production <strong>from</strong> the Ministry of Agriculture Research and Training<br />

Institute, Uyole, Mbeya, and an international diploma in pig Husbandry and animal feed technology<br />

<strong>from</strong> Barneveld College, Netherlands. He has also studied the promotion of self-help organizations<br />

in Feldafing, Germany. Before joining PELUM-Tanzania, he worked as a poultry and small stock<br />

development officer and in-charge of the regional hatchery unit for 10 years; as dairy farmers’ group<br />

coordinator with the Southern Highlands Dairy Development Project (<strong>from</strong> 1993 to 2000), and as<br />

a district livestock officer (2000–3). His main interests are in rural development through community<br />

organizations and networking.<br />

Justin holds a diploma in farm agriculture <strong>from</strong> Egerton University, and a BSc in agriculture <strong>from</strong><br />

the University of Manitoba. He has worked for 28 years in agricultural extension and development in<br />

both dryland and wetter areas in Eastern Province. He worked with the Ministry of Agriculture <strong>from</strong><br />

1979 until 1995, before joining the Diocese of Embu. Has provided leadership and technical advice<br />

during the establishment of the Community Based Livestock Services (CBLS) and MBEU Savings<br />

and Credit Association.<br />
