Parents Flippin’ Night Out<br />

Friday, <strong>February</strong> 22, <strong>2013</strong> | Cost: $20 per person<br />

Workout: 6:30 - 7:15 pm | Wine and snacks: 7:15 - 8:00 pm<br />

It’s <strong>the</strong> parents’ turn <strong>to</strong> jump, roll and play on <strong>the</strong> gymnastics<br />

equipment. Experience what a great workout gymnastics is,<br />

regardless of age and ability. The session will include some<br />

basic techniques that you can show off <strong>to</strong> your kids, friends,<br />

etc, a gymnastics inspired strength circuit and cool down with<br />

stretches. Wine and snacks will be provided after all of our<br />

hard work. So drop your children off at Childcare and come<br />

try something different!<br />

55+ A Perfect balance: Free Drop-in Classes<br />

<strong>January</strong> 11 th & 18 th | 9:15 - 10:00 am<br />

Still actively hiking, skiing, curling, etc? Most people over 25<br />

believe that <strong>the</strong>y are <strong>to</strong>o old <strong>to</strong> start gymnastics, but it is never<br />

<strong>to</strong>o late <strong>to</strong> gain <strong>the</strong> benefits from practicing this sport. Ordinarily<br />

we take our balance for granted but it is an important<br />

and vital part of our daily life. Though <strong>the</strong>re are often many<br />

fac<strong>to</strong>rs involved with decreased balance as we age, a lot of<br />

this decline is simply due <strong>to</strong> our inactivity. Gymnastics is all<br />

about balance work, core and trunk streng<strong>the</strong>ning and resistance<br />

training. Join us for a couple introduc<strong>to</strong>ry classes prior<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> commencement of <strong>the</strong> registered classes and discover<br />

how beneficial this cross-training class can be in keeping you<br />

in peak condition for <strong>the</strong> mountains, <strong>the</strong> ice or <strong>the</strong> trails. Open<br />

<strong>to</strong> all 55+ Members. Class is held in <strong>the</strong> Gymnastics Centre.<br />

Please dress in active wear and no shoes.<br />

UpCOmING WINTER COURSES (JANUARY <strong>2013</strong>)<br />

This session will include options for most ages and abilities.<br />

No experience is required for any classes o<strong>the</strong>r than<br />

Recreational Level 2.<br />

Mininastics<br />

2 - 3.5 years old | Parented<br />

An introduction <strong>to</strong> basic gymnastics. Parents/adults are<br />

instructed by <strong>the</strong> coach on how <strong>to</strong> safely assist your child on<br />

various apparatus in our gymnastics facility. This is an active<br />

participation class for both parent and child.<br />

Gym tykes<br />

3.5 - 4.5 years old | Unparented<br />

An introduction <strong>to</strong> basic gymnastics skills with an emphasis<br />

on safety. Children will be taught landings, static positions,<br />

locomotions, swings, rotations and springs on a variety of<br />

equipment. Our program is circuit based with <strong>the</strong> children<br />

moving from one piece of apparatus <strong>to</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

4.5 - 6 years old<br />

Introduction <strong>to</strong> Gymnastics<br />

An introduction <strong>to</strong> basic gymnastics skills with an emphasis<br />

on safety. Children will be taught landings, static positions,<br />

locomotions, swings, rotations and springs on a variety of<br />

equipment. Our program is circuit based with <strong>the</strong> children<br />

moving from one piece of apparatus <strong>to</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Beginner Recreational Gymnastics<br />

Through circuits and basic progressions children will learn<br />

fundamental gymnastics skills. Swings, rolls, cartwheels,<br />

handstands, landings and balances are <strong>the</strong> core of <strong>the</strong><br />

curriculum. This class will allow participants <strong>to</strong> use various<br />

apparatus/equipment (rings, floor, tramp and balance beams).<br />

8 - 9.5 years old<br />

Beginner Recreational Gymnastics<br />

Through circuits and basic progressions children will learn<br />

fundamental gymnastics skills. Building on <strong>the</strong> basic<br />

progressions, more advanced techniques will be safely<br />

introduced. This class will allow participants <strong>to</strong> use various<br />

apparatus/equipment (rings, floor, tramp and balance beams).<br />

tumble & Jump<br />

9.6 - 11.11 years old<br />

Beginner Recreational Tumbling & Trampoline<br />

An introduction <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> gymnastics related disciplines of<br />

tumbling and trampoline. Through circuits and basic<br />

progressions children will learn fundamentals and aerial<br />

skills. This class will allow participants <strong>to</strong> use various<br />

apparatus/equipment (floor, mini-trampoline, tumbletrack).<br />

youth & teen Drop-in<br />

This is a fun tester <strong>to</strong> gymnastics. You will learn <strong>the</strong> basics<br />

and how <strong>the</strong>se skills can be used in o<strong>the</strong>r sports and<br />

everyday life. Gymnastics will help your child develop<br />

flexibility, coordination, agility and strength and is a great<br />

base for all sports. After <strong>the</strong> introduction and technique<br />

session, <strong>the</strong>re will be an allotted “free time” <strong>to</strong> explore <strong>the</strong><br />

equipment under supervision.<br />
