Founded in 1984, Belgoprocess is a limited liability company
located in the Belgium nuclear area Mol-Dessel. Belgium has
opted for a centralised processing and management of its
radioactive waste, in which Belgoprocess plays a key role. The
operational experience of Belgoprocess covers the
decommissioning of nuclear facilities, including heavily alpha
and/or beta/gamma-contaminated cells. Furthermore our
competences cover the processing of radioactive waste by
means of (super)compaction, incineration and waste water
treatment, as well as specific processes and infrastructure
developed for specific waste streams. In that perspective the
general goal is to minimize the amount of radioactive waste
produced, to maximise clearance of decontaminated material
while optimising operational costs. Belgoprocess set-up a
nuclear inventory management system supported by state of the
art non-destructive radiological waste characterisation
techniques. Currently over 50 000 drums of radioactive waste
are stored at the Belgoprocess site, from low level waste up to
high level vitrified waste. Belgoprocess offers cost effective
solutions related to radioactive waste management and
decommissioning projects.

The CEA is a key player in technological research and
innovation in Europe and is active on the one hand in four
major fields: energy, defence and global security, information
technologies and health technologies, associated with
fundamental research of excellence, and on the research
infrastructures. The Clean-up Section (SAS) is a service of the
CEA of Fontenay-aux-Roses made up of project managers
which are specialized in one or several of its domains of
expertise. Their goal is to manage and proceed to the
remediation of nuclear sites, establish the radiological
characterization of contaminated sites and manage and
evacuate the nuclear waste due to the removal of the
contaminated soils. The section may intervene at a national and
an international level. Besides many publications, the Clean-up
Site Section has developed a decontamination methodology to
respond to the CEA centre’s need of dismantling all the nuclear
facilities in order to set up buildings for new research activities.
The goal of this methodology relies on various tools such as
expertise vehicles with efficient detection performances
(VEgAS), a recently developed software platform called
Kartotrak and several modules aiming at sampling
optimization, data analysis and geostatistical modeling, realtime
monitoring and validation of clean up efficiency. These
tools, used on the CEA centers, are a fitted and efficient answer
to the various needs in radiological evaluation of contaminated
sites and soils, concerning the optimization of the costs of
measurements and clean-up process on one hand, and the waste
volumes on the other hand.

Container Products Corporation has been in the business of
supplying equipment and waste containers to the nuclear
industry since 1981. We supply containers/packaging to the
commercial nuclear world, Department of Energy Facilities,
Department of Defense facilities, and Universities. We also
have experience in design and manufacturing of hydraulic
systems such as the box and drum compaction and
decontamination units.
Our products are also sold to Canadian nuclear power
generation facilities and laboratories, and a number of foreign
countries including Europe, the Far East (Korea, Japan), South
America, (Argentina), Mexico, and Russia to name a few.
Our container product line includes IP-1, IP-2, IP-3, Type A,
