MERCURE SYDNEY - central to the city
By Janice Burmaz
TWAS THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS…… arriving at Sydney airport at such a
busy time of the year I was well prepared for my working week. I signed for my rental
car, collected it from outside the terminal front doors and in just under 20 minutes with
directions from my Australian speaking Tom Tom, I was pulling up outside the Mercure. A
smiling concierge and a speedy check in made for one of the most seamless hotel arrivals
yet. My room was well set up with a large fl atscreen LCD television, broadband internet
and offi ce desk and pulling back the curtains, fantastic views of the city. I ventured up to
the rooftop fl oor to scope out the indoor swimming pool and gym to fi nd an even more
amazing vista. Guests can work out on their treadmill while taking in the panorama of the
central business district through fl oor-to-ceiling windows. This is such an uplifting place
to start or end your day and contributed a great deal to my busy week.
Four Elements Restaurant and Bar is conveniently located on the 1st fl oor of the hotel
and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, providing a wide range of delicious local and
international cuisine. At street level you can sit back and
experience the lively atmosphere of Eve’s Place while
you enjoy a beer or shake up a cocktail or two from the
bar menu.
The Mercure really is perfectly located making it so easy
to work or explore this vibrant city. The Capitol Theatre,
Darling Harbour, Chinatown, the Powerhouse Museum
and Sydney Entertainment Centre are all within easy
walking distance, and with local transport links at the
hotel’s doorstep it is easy to commute around the greater
Sydney region. Visit mercuresydney.com.au
