At OKay, the convenience for the customer is the central focal<br />

point, so that they can save themselves time, money and effort.<br />

The neighbourhood stores are centrally located in a village<br />

or municipality, so that customer do not have to travel long<br />

distances and can avoid traffic jams. The long opening hours<br />

and easily accessible parking areas increase the accessibility.<br />

The compact neighbourhood stores (400 to 650 m2) are<br />

structured logically, the product range is offered in a clear and<br />

accessible manner. OKay offers a wide range of fresh products.<br />

It represents an important part of the revenue.<br />

OKay guarantees the lowest prices in the area. Should a<br />

customer nevertheless find a lower price, then the difference is<br />

paid back to the customer and the price is adjusted immediately.<br />

Developments<br />

OKay opened six new stores in the past financial year:<br />

Wevelgem, Pecq, Zulte, Dilsen-Stockem, Gistel and<br />

Kortemark. If there had been no delay with the granting of<br />

permits, then OKay could probably have opened more new<br />

stores. One store was also relocated and enlarged to 650<br />

m². There were 80 OKay stores at the end of the financial<br />

year. As a result of the opening of new stores and attracting<br />

new customers in the existing stores, the OKay stores<br />

achieved a highly satisfactory increase in revenue of 14%.<br />

45 employees of the central services of OKay and Bio-<br />

Planet moved to a new administrative building in Lot, near<br />

Halle, at the end of 2011. This relocation is part of OKay<br />

and Bio-Planet’s strategic plan to further develop their<br />

corporate identity. In the future, OKay will also have its own<br />

distribution centre on an adjacent industrial site.<br />

OKay continues to confirm its image as a sustainable<br />

growth company. After winning five years in a row as a<br />

‘Trends Gazelles Ambassador’, OKay has been proclaimed<br />

Golden Ambassador.<br />

Outlook<br />

The formula aims to open eight new stores and renovate a<br />

number of existing stores in 2012/2013. OKay envisages a<br />

potential of 150 to 170 stores in Belgium in the future. In<br />

order to realise this growth, OKay aims to recruit another<br />

120 to 150 employees this year.<br />
