VIII DUNDEE CITY SPORTS COUNCIL - APPLICATION FOR GRANT 49 The Convener and Councillors Wallace and Duncan declared a non-financial interest by virtue of their Council appointments. Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Leisure Services Committee of 18th December 1996. The Committee agreed that £6,525 be allocated to Dundee City Sports Council for Grant Aid administration for the year 2005-2006 and a further £1,000 be allocated to Dundee City Sports Council from Dundee City Disability Sport for Grant Aid administration for the year 2005-2006 as agreed by Article XI of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 21st June 2004. IX DUNDEE FLOWER AND FOOD FESTIVAL - 2005 TENDER FOR MARQUEES There was submitted Agenda Note AN155-2005 advising that two offers had been received for the above tender but only one company had completed the whole tender. The Committee agreed to accept the offer from Purvis Marquees, Ingleston amounting to £45,057. X CLATTO SEASONAL FACILITIES There was submitted Agenda Note AN157-2005 advising the Committee of the proposal to discontinue the boat hire at Clatto Reservoir. The Committee approved and noted that the reservoir would still be available for booking by private parties and for use by the Communities Department. XI LOCAL ACCESS FORUM Reference was made to Article IV of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 17th January 2005. There was submitted Agenda Note AN158-2005 advising that the Committee was now required to recommend that the core group of the above forum should operate with those from whom applications had been received with any identified gaps in representation being co-opted at a later date if required. The forum would operate with 16 members giving good representation from user groups and community groups. The Committee approved the arrangements. XII USE OF PARKS AND OPEN SPACES - CIVIL MARRIAGE VENUES There was submitted Agenda Note AN160-2005 informing the Committee that under the Marriage (Approval of Places) (Scotland) Regulations 2002, local authorities could register a wide range of venues as Civil Marriage venues. Dundee had 18 such officially licensed/designated venues. The object of the legislation was to increase the choice of venues available to couples planning a Civil Marriage and statistics showed that there had been an increase in the numbers of Civil Marriages held in Dundee since the 2002 Act. A request had been received for permission for a marriage ceremony to be held on Dundee Law and it was proposed that the Law and other park/open space venues be designated as Civil Marriage venues. Locations in Council ownership could be so designated simply by notifying the Registrar General for Scotland. It would still be necessary for couples to obtain the permission of the Dundee Contract Services Committee, so that, for example, account could be taken of other events on the same dates etc. Venues which would prove attractive for this purpose included Dundee Law, Camperdown Park, Templeton Woods etc and it was recommended that authority be granted for the Director to decide on any other locations to be so designated in liaison with the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services). The Committee approved the above and agreed that the granting/refusing of future requests for use of these locations be delegated to the Director or nominee and that the Scheme of Delegated Powers be amended accordingly.
50 XIII DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL (CAMPERDOWN PARK SOUTH AND WEST ACCESS PARKS, DUNDEE) (PROHIBITION OF ENTRY AND EXIT) ORDER 2005 Reference was made to Article VII of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 20th September 2004. There was submitted Agenda Note AN166-2005 advising that the proposed Order had been duly drafted and during the statutory consultation period no adverse comments had been received.
