Listen to Professor Gregory discuss his journey and what brought him to Notre Dame. Professor Gregory, a practicing Catholic<br />

and award-winning scholar of the Reformation era, left a tenured position at Stanford in 2003 for the opportunity to teach and<br />

do research at Notre Dame. In his view, Notre Dame offers greater academic freedom than secular universities because of its<br />

openness to religion on its own terms, and has a crucial intellectual role to play in American higher education and American<br />

society because of its Catholic identity.<br />

Carter Snead, the newly appointed William P. and Hazel B. White endowed director of the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and<br />

Culture will share his plans for the future. The purpose of the Center is to be the most important hub in the world for research,<br />

teaching, and exchange in the Catholic moral and intellectual tradition. It aspires to share the richness of that tradition with<br />

Notre Dame students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends, elite academia, and the public square.<br />
